Our Board of Directors
Williamsburg Christian Academy is led by a Board of Directors that oversees the financial well-being of the institution and plans for the future through setting appropriate policy.
Judy Henley, President, served on the WCA Board of Directors for two years prior to being elected president. She also served on the Endowment Board and the New2you Thrift store board. Judy previously served on the King of Glory Governing School Board for five years and on the Greensprings Plantation Board of Directors. She has chaired several non-profit fundraising events in the community. Prior to becoming a stay-at-home mother to her children 13 years ago, she spent 15 years as a District Manager for Gap, Inc. in both Florida and Virginia. She and her family currently attend Waters Edge Church. Judy and her husband, Ray, have two sons at WCA this year, Evan and Carson, a Sophomore and Senior respectively.
Douglas K. Kinder, Vice President: COL, CHC, USA, Retired was commissioned through the USA ROTC program at Marquette University and completed over 29 years of active military service in the Adjutant General Corps, Field Artillery, and the Chaplains Corps. He holds a B.A. in Political Science and History from Marquette University and a Master of Strategic Studies from the US Army War College as well as an M.Div. and D.Min. from the Assemblies of God Theological Seminary in Springfield MO. His career culminated as the Installation Management Command Chaplain for the European Theater where he supervised religious support operations for 18 bases in Germany, Italy, Belgium, and the Netherlands. Upon retirement, Doug served as an adjunct professor at Southeastern University and as a senior pastor for an Assemblies of God church in Poquoson, Virginia. Doug currently serves on the Waters Edge Church-Williamsburg leadership board, the Velocity Church (Assemblies of God) board of Directors, and serves as a guest speaker at several military ministry conferences throughout the United States.
Michael Nice, Treasurer, is Vice President of George Nice & Sons, Inc., a Williamsburg-based business specializing in site development, road, and utility construction. He is married to Cristi Nice who works in the Educational Enrichment program at WCA and has one daughter attending WCA, Ashley, a junior, and daughter Carolyn, a member of the class of 2016, now attending Christopher Newport University. Michael graduated from Virginia Tech with a B.S. in Civil Engineering and graduated from the College of William and Mary with a Masters in Business Administration. He also serves on the Board of Housing Partnerships, Inc., a Williamsburg-based non-profit providing home restoration and construction services for low-income, sick, and disabled families. He and his family attend Williamsburg Community Chapel.
Jane Vaught, Secretary, grew up outside of Baltimore, Md. and received her B.A. in Elementary Education from William and Mary. Jane taught for 5 years in York County Public Schools and then resigned to stay home with her own young children. For financial reasons, she also took care of other people's children in a day care situation for 8 years. She often had 9 children under the age of 4 in her house! In 1983, Jane and her husband Larry enrolled their oldest son at WCA in the first grade. In 1987, Jane was asked to join the faculty teaching 2nd grade, and spent the next 26 years at WCA teaching 1st and 2nd grades and being the classroom teacher for 2 of her own children. She also served as Head of the Elementary in the last years of her career. Jane is married to her husband Larry and together they served as the Interim Heads of School at WCA during the 2015-2016 school year. Jane has 3 children and 3 grandchildren.
Bill Wright, Member at Large, works with DoD Contracting, after an extensive career in contracting and recruiting with multiple government organizations, and private corporations, such as the Virginia Department of Transportation, Dominion Resources, Delta-T Corporation and TYGES. Bill graduated from Virginia Commonwealth Bachelor of Science degree in Traffic and Transportation Safety, and an MBA from Averett University. For seven years he served on the Board of Directors for an organization called “Pennies for Heaven”, a non-profit organization that fed and clothed the homeless in Richmond on a weekly basis. Bill and his wife Robin traveled to the Holy Land on a pilgrimage and were re-baptized in the Jordan River. The couple has a daughter Jordan, a junior, who has never attended a school other than WCA, and currently hosts one of WCA's Chinese international students, Rence. What Bill values most in WCA is the stability and consistency of our Christ-centered message and biblical world view in an ever changing world.
Amy Nice, Member at Large: Amy Nice was born and raised in Auburn, Alabama. Amy met her husband Brandon, a Williamsburg native, while he was working in Nashville as a musician. They moved back to the Williamsburg area 9 years ago. Amy is a stay at home mother of 3 children, Avery, Colton, and Harper, who are all students at Williamsburg Christian Academy. Prior to having children, Amy worked in the dental/orthodontic field for 8 years. Amy is a die-hard Auburn University Football fan, and likes to attend games as often as possible. She loves cooking, music and hosting friends and family in her home. Amy and her family are active members of Life Church in Williamsburg.
Matt Leffler, Member at Large: Matt grew up in Williamsburg and attended WCA in the 4th and 5th grades. At that time WCA was meeting in a building on Jamestown Rd, which is now a landscaping business. These days Matt is a Commercial Real Estate Broker with Harvey Lindsay Commercial Real Estate. Matt graduated from Radford University with a Masters Degree in Corporate Communications. He and his wife of 14 years Suzanne Leffler, have one child Noah, who is a rising 2nd grader. They attend the Williamsburg Community Chapel where he regularly teaches in the Children’s ministry. Matt enjoys mountain biking, backpacking and also training in martial arts, which he attends with his son.
Robin Jones, Member-at-Large: Robin Jones was born in North Carolina and graduated from Appalachian State University with a Middle-Grade Education teaching degree. Her family moved to Williamsburg in 1999, and in 2007, she completed her Master's degree in Gifted Education at the College of William and Mary. She has been teaching at Berkeley Middle School since 2003. Her husband, Chris, and she have two children, Kathryn and William. They enjoy classic cars and boating on the Chickahominy River. Robin and Chris are members of Williamsburg Community Chapel where they serve as Student Ministries Deacons.
