Learning that is purposeful, personalized, and mastery-driven is of high value at Williamsburg Christian Academy. For this reason, we are excited to begin Word Study this week. Word Study is purposeful, personalized, and master-driven program that integrates phonics, spelling, and vocabulary.

Through Word Study, students are challenged to analyze, think critically, and apply their word knowledge rather than just simply memorizing a list of words. Students are given a developmental spelling assessment to identify what they know and do not know in the area of spelling, phonics, and vocabulary.

Be sure to ask your child to teach you about how they sorted their Word Study words and why! Kindergarten and K4 will begin their version of Word Study in January. We are excited to teach spelling, phonics, and vocabulary this way and we welcome your feedback!
