Ally Rodenberg

student athlete rodenberg   Q: What was your favorite moment or highlight of the season?

A: My favorite highlight was the game that I made 26 points.

Q: What do you like best about your particular sport?

A: I love basketball because whenever you are about to start the game you get really excited, and I don’t feel that way with a lot of other sports.

Q: What do you think it takes to be a successful student-athlete?

A: I think if you try your best and dedicate yourself to a sport, you can become a great athlete.

Q: How do you feel you best contribute to the team?

A: I contribute with a positive attitude. If you are not playing in the game, cheer on your team and hype them up.

Q: When did you first start participating in this particular sport?

A: I have been playing basketball since I was in kindergarten, but when I got really into it was when I was in the 4th grade.

Q: In what other activities are you involved?

A: I play soccer outside of school and I play volleyball, basketball, and field hockey at WCA.

Q: How does your faith help you to have a firm foundation when you are engaging in athletics? rodenberg

A: If you have faith and courage in a game, you can most definitely do great.

Q: What skills have you learned from sports that will be most helpful to you in your overall life skills?

A: The skills I have learned are to never be afraid to do something great and never let anyone tell you that you can’t do it because if you put your mind to it, you can do anything.

Q: What is something interesting about yourself that perhaps no one or just a few know?

A: My favorite color is yellow. I love Chinese food. I eat a lot of food!

Q: What is a favorite Bible verse related to your participation in sports?

student athlete sullivanKaitlyn Sullivan

Q: What was your favorite moment or highlight of the season?

A: VISAA states was definitely the highlight of the season for me. Achieving Division II Runner Ups with Lainey, Delaney, and Sisi was an incredible experience. I will never forget the feeling I felt walking up to the podium with the girls, holding our plaque and thinking, “We can fit our ENTIRE state team on ONE podium spot!”

Q: What do you like best about your particular sport?

A: At my core, I’m a competitor. To be able to give my all both mentally and physically into one race in order to win is why I love swimming so much.

Q: What do you think it takes to be a successful student-athlete?

A: To be a successful student-athlete, I believe it takes a little raw talent, more than tons of hard work, and a love for the sport. The greatest athletes work day in and day out, not always enjoying the hard work, but knowing that it is what must be done to succeed at something they love.

Q: How do you feel you best contribute to the team?

A: I feel that I best contribute to the team as a silent leader. I don’t particularly go out of my way to be in charge, but I do my best to maintain a positive attitude and encourage others to work hard so they can be the best they can be.

Q: When did you first start participating in this particular sport?

A: I began swimming when I was 6 years old for my summer swim team, Stonehouse Splash.

Q: In what other activities are you involved?

A: Other than swimming, I enjoy playing the violin and caring for my environment as president of Eco Club.

Q: How does your faith help you to have a firm foundation when you are engaging in athletics?

A: My faith gives me confidence before my races and picks me up after my bad races. I give all my swims to God and in turn, He gives me all the strength I need so that when I do well, I can thank Him and when I don’t do well, I can remember to stop being down on myself because He loves me anyway.

Q: What skills have you learned from sports that will be most helpful to you in your overall life skills? sullivan

A: The greatest skill that I have learned from swimming is time management. Having very little time to do work as a result of athletics has taught me how to find the balance between activities. I believe that this skill will carry over into my overall life skills when I need to juggle college, family, friends, work, etc.

Q: What is something interesting about yourself that perhaps no one or just a few know?

A: I don’t really have an interesting fact. I’m mostly an open book, but I do love to write, anything from lyrics to poetry to short stories. I particularly enjoy metaphors thanks to being a student in Mr. Stec’s AP Language and Composition class.

Q:  What is a favorite Bible verse related to your participation in sports?

A: 1 Corinthians 9:24-27 -“Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but only one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may win. Everyone who competes in the games exercises self-control in all things. They then do it to receive a perishable wreath, but we an imperishable. Therefore, I run in such a way, as not without aim; I box in such a way, as not beating the air; but I discipline my body and make it my slave, so that, after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified.”
