JJV Baseball Notches Big Win Vs. Carmel Wildats

The WCA Eagles JJV baseball team defeated the Carmel School Wildcats 21-0 recently as three pitchers combined to throw a shutout. Coleman Walls got WCA off to a great start, allowing only one hit and no runs over 3 innings, striking out seven. The Eagles opened up scoring in the first inning when Peyton Williams doubled on the first pitch of the at-bat. Williams would go 3-for-3 at the plate on the day. In the second inning, Ashton Ware and Jake Duffy launched hits into the outfield, both driving in runs in the frame. Wes Newman, Ezra Barton, and Easton Ware had three hits apiece for the Eagles. One of Ware’s shots was for an exciting inside-the-park home run.

Nathan Watson led the Eagles with five stolen bases, giving the Eagles a total of 16 stolen bases throughout the game. The Wildcats continued to have no answers to the Eagles pitching, as Watson manned the mound, continuing the shutout. WCA was also sure-handed in the field, chipping in an errorless effort over nine innings.

The Eagles stretched the lead out of reach in the 5th inning of baseball, when Newman smacked a double past shortstop and into the outfield, driving in Luke Breslin and Ezra Barton who had singled with successive line drives to left. Ashton Ware would complete the game strong on the mound, preserving the shutout against the Carmel Wildcats and closing out the massive win for the Eagles.
