Our week long celebration of reading and our book fair culminated in our second annual Book Bazaar. The Book Bazaar showed off projects that students in the lower school has put together to explain or pictorally represent books that they have read. In total, the students read 1,696 books this year leading up to the Book Bazaar!
Earlier this year, Head of Lower School Michelle Flanagan had pledged that if the lower school students exceeded the 1,111 books they had read last year before this year’s bazaar (which they far exceeded), she would read a book to them at lunch….while duct taped to the wall!!
Mrs. Flanagan, with the help of 5th grade student Harrison Zima, read Peanut Butter and Cupcake, by Terry Border, and Pete the Cat and His Magic Sunglasses by Eric Litwin.
Needless to say, the students were delighted.
Congratulations to all the students that contributed to reaching this milestone!
Our Book Fair as a whole was hugely successful, as we raised $1,725 to go towards much needed school supplies and expansions to our school’s library collections.
