Eagle Volleyball finishes regular season, makes Metro Tournament Championship Game!

Last week was a whirlwind for our WCA Eagle Volleyball Team as we faced off against Atlantic Shores twice in one week, and battled in the METRO Tournament.

On Tuesday, the Seahawks of Atlantic Shores Christian took our Lady Eagles all the way to a full five sets on their court, but the Eagles scratched and clawed themselves to a win, finishing their regular season with a 12-4 record.

As it would turn out, this would not be the last they would see of the Seahawks…not even that week.

The METRO Tournament Draw pitted Atlantic Shores at the sixth seed against WAC, the higher #3 seed in the Quarterfinal round held right here at WCA last Thursday  night. In front of a great crowd turnout, the Eagles dropped the first game, but rebounded to defeat Atlantic Shores the next three sets for a 3-1 victory!

The win earned them a place in the METRO Final Four  Saturday, where they continued a pattern of defeating the higher seeded and host team Denbigh Baptist in straight sets. This was the third victory for WCA over DBS, but somehow in the polls WCA had remained lower in the VISAA state rankings all season.

The Championship game was a gritty battle, but talented and #1 VISAA Division 3 ranked Stonebridge powered to a 3-0 victory over the Eagles for the Metro crown. The Championship appearance, however, all but seals a State Tournament slot for VISAA Division 3 for the Eagles.

In tourney festivities, both Nicole Musfelt and Patricia Davies earned All-Metro Team honors.
