Music
Our music instruction begins as early as the pre-school years where basic musical awareness and concepts are explored and practiced. As our students grow, we want them to have a broad and complete comprehension of basic music theory, music history, stylistic awareness, and the science behind musical sound. Each grade level explores these concepts at varying depths to develop skill and mastery over these concepts.
WCA provides ample opportunities for students to perform for their classmates and in school programs for their families, which allows them to understand what it means to be a musician and a performer. From instrument families to modern applications of classical theory, students will have a broad understanding of music's role in our society and in their lives.
Music is a powerful tool of influence in the world around us and we believe that our students can use that tool to make a difference in the world they live in.
(led by Susan Rodenburg): Middle School and High School students have the opportunity to participate in this after-school club. Students explore music across genres and study vocal performance skills. The Chorus Club meets once each week and participates in WCA's annual Night of Fine Arts and at school assemblies and events.
