HUMANITIES

Williamsburg Christian Academy’s Humanities Department believes God placed us on earth to be observers and communicators. We strive to equip young people with the research and communication skills necessary in all careers and throughout life. Additionally, History and English courses emphasize reflective, nonverbal, and listening skills that we hold as vital ingredients for us to love our neighbors as we are commanded to do in His word. Isaiah 46:9-10 tells us “Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me, declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure.”

WORLD LANGUAGES

While on the Isle of Patmos in Revelation 7:9, John saw a heavenly vision in which every tribe, tongue, and nation worshipped the Lamb of God on the throne. At WCA, we know that heaven is global, and we are internationally minded. Our World Languages Department introduces cultural competencies and prepares students for lives and successful careers in government service, international business, and mission work. Our world language offerings feature Italian, French, Spanish, German, Japanese, Mandarin, and Cantonese.

In Matthew 28:19, we are commanded to “Go ye therefore, and make disciples of the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and of the Holy Spirit"

MATHEMATICS

Williamsburg Christian Academy believes that God gave math to humankind so that we might become better stewards of His creation. Math reinforces natural and spiritual order. WCA’s math faculty challenges young people to develop strong computational skills through precise repetition, metacognition, and reasoning skills throughout their lives.

Luke 14:28 challenges us to properly account for our resources---  “For which of you, intending to build a tower, sitteth not down first, and counteth the costs, whether he have sufficient to finish it?”

SCIENCES

God is our first and most important scientist. He creates and sustains life. Williamsburg Christian Academy’s Science Department explores the complexity of God’s creation while modeling respect for the depth of its diversity and appreciation for His design.

John 1:3 Through him all things were made; without him, nothing was made that has been made.

VISUAL ARTS

At Williamsburg Christian Academy, we know that God is the master innovator and inspires us to build, construct, and conceptualize through His gifts to us. We work to encourage and imbue the innovative skill sets that God has given to young people through His divine inspiration. God demonstrated His artistic genius in Genesis 1:2-5.

PHYSICAL EDUCATION

The Williamsburg Christian Academy Physical Education Department works to prepare young people to prepare their minds for scholarly study through nutrition and movement. Our bodies represent the Lord’s temples, and he has made each of us a steward of his church that dwells within. Physical Education offerings include Weight Training, Nutrition Health, and traditional PE units of exploration.

1 Corinthians 6: 19-20 “Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.”

ENGLISH LANGUAGE ARTS

The objective of this discipline: students being able to read and comprehend the written word, most importantly scripture, to be able to honor God in all things….

Joshua 1:8- This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.

PERFORMING ARTS

Psalms, hymns, and thanksgiving are constant themes throughout scripture. Per Ephesians 5:19, we know that musical praise helps God know the melody of our hearts. At Williamsburg Christian Academy, students explore musical instruments to become young practitioners and enhance praise and worship culture on campus or in their respective churches.
