Program Coordinators

Our Program Coordinators lead specific areas at WCA that impact a large number of students, that are not specifically in the school leadership. Their dynamic contributions are always targeted at enriching the school experience for our students.

Pam Gibbons

Athletic Director

Pam Gibbons is WCA's Athletic Director. She grew up in a rural area outside of Baltimore, MD and started playing sports as soon as possible! Pam developed a love for soccer and basketball early in life, playing midfield on the soccer field and earning the nickname “Speedy” and playing forward on the basketball court. She was a 3 sport athlete in high school continuing on both the field and court but adding track and field into the mix, excelling at the mid distances. Pam was a silver medal winner in the State Championship meet in the 800 m run her Senior year. She went on to graduate from JMU and earned a Masters degree in Speech Pathology at Indiana University. She has worked as a speech therapist over 17 years seeing a multitude of clients from school age through geriatric with a concentration on articulation disorders and swallowing disorders. Her daughter, Delaney, a junior, attends WCA and swims for the WCA Eagle Swim team, as well as playing on our Field Hockey team. Her family currently attends the Williamsburg Community Chapel, where she is a volunteer in the Worship Buddies program. Her current hobbies include weightlifting, walking, running, and swimming, group Bible study, reading Apologetics books, decorating rooms, and eating anything with peanut butter!

Dr. Pamela Rambo

College and Career Counseling

Pam joined WCA as a consultant for the 2019-20 school year and continues in that role. She also help coordinate the Workforce Readiness program at this time. Dr. Rambo supports the senior class as they apply to post-secondary programs. She also guides grade 9-11 students in college planning. She has 35 years of experience in college counseling and financial aid with The ACCESS College Foundation, The College of William and Mary and two Virginia Community Colleges. Pam graduated from Christopher Newport University with a B.A. in Psychology, Hampton University with an M.A. in Counseling and The College of William and Mary with an Ed.D. in Counseling. She is a member of the Virginia Association for Student Financial Aid Administrators, The Higher Education Consultants Association and The National Association of College Admission Counselors. Pam was also a Stephen Minister at Williamsburg Community Chapel for ten years. Her favorite Bible verse is from Esther 4:14 "And who knows whether you have not come to the kingdom for such a time as this?”

Elizabeth Swartzwel

Director of Learning Support

Mrs. Swartzel is the Director of Learning Support at WCA and serves students in grades K-12. Mrs. Swartzel earned her B.A. in English from the University of Virginia and earned her M.A.ED. in Special Education from the College of William and Mary. She has worked as a special educator in public schools and regional day programs and served as the lower school special educator at WCA in 2021. In addition to providing small group instruction, Mrs. Swartzel collaborates with learning facilitators to meet the learning needs of all students at WCA. Mrs. Swartzel lives in Williamsburg with her husband, three children and one very energetic Labrador Retriever.

Dan Stec

Upper School Student Life Director

Dan Stec has transitioned from the role of Learning facilitator to Upper School Student Life Director. In this role, Dan will be the force behind ensuring that our extracurricular programs and spiritual life programs are vibrant and robust, and that clubs and teams alig with what our students are interested in. Don't worry, though, Mr. Stec isn't completely done as an LF, he will still have a limited courseload for the upcoming school year.

Rhonda Peterson

Workforce Readiness Director

Rhonda leads our newly established Workforce Readiness Program at WCA. Rhonda grew up in Williamsburg and graduated from a local private school. She then went on to graduate from James Madison University with a Bachelors in Business Administration degree in Marketing. Rhonda spent more than 20 years working in corporate America and then became a career switcher and entered the field of education, working in Transitional Services with high school Special Education students and the last 7 years spent teaching Business, Marketing and Economics and Personal Finance courses to High School students. Rhonda also ran the school store and coordinated the Work Based Learning program at the high school. Rhonda lives in Williamsburg with her husband Eric and they have 2 daughters, Olivia and Victoria. Her Favorite Bible verse is “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Philippians 4:13
