This week our 1st and 2nd graders toured C&F Bank and shopped at Food Lion as a part of the goods and services unit in our social studies curriculum. At the bank, they learned about saving money and listened to the story, Alexander Who Used to Be Rich Last Sunday.
At Food Lion, they comparison-shopped, chose a healthy snack, made purchases themselves, and identified sale signs and unit prices. Our students enjoyed a scavenger hunt finding food for each letter of the alphabet as well.
Next week the 1st and 2nd graders will set up a market and sell their own products to each other. “We love creating hands-on, real-life learning opportunities for our students and are thankful to C&F Bank and Food Lion for partnering with us,” said Lower School Principal Michelle Flanagan on WCA’s appreciation for hosts hospitality.
