WCA Rising Junior Zane Eckols Receives Camp Scholarship

The Historic Rivers Chapter of the Virginia Master Naturalists was proud to congratulate their three Nancy Norton Nature Camp scholarships recipients on Wednesday , May 10th.  Rising Junior Zane Eckols is one of three students who will be attending the 2017 sessions of Nature Camp, nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Rockbridge County, VA. Eckols, (pictured in the center of the three students) was selected because of his love of nature and his commitment to environmental studies.

Since 1942, Nature Camp, nestled in an isolated, idyllic valley by Big Mary’s Creek in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Rockbridge County,  has sought to train a corps of interested, knowledgeable youth, from 5th through 12th grade, to conserve and protect the environment and to become wise stewards of the earth’s natural resources.

Zane was a new student at WCA this past year, and was a member of the soccer and swim teams, as well as the newly formed Track club. He also had a substantial part in WCA’s drama production, “How to Color Your Cardboard Box.”
