Meet WCA 101: Williamsburg Christian Academy’s New Tool for Onboarding New Families

Williamsburg Christian Academy has completed development of, and is rolling out a new feature on its website, WCA 101. WCA 101 is a specialized set of web pages that walks the new WCA family through what they really need to grasp in order to be prepared for the coming school year, and integrate with the WCA community as quickly as possible.

The Program has a bold front page with the title of the program, “WCA 101: The Definitive Guide to Joining  the WCA Community of Families”,  set in gold leaf on what appears to be a leather bound book. The program is broken down into three segments intended to be walked through one after the other.

What to Know

‘What to Know’ includes a welcome to WCA 101 from Head of School Dave Breslin and covers all policies and procedures, the basic operations of the school, and where to find all the important dates on the school’s Google Calendar and full school year text calendar.

What to Do

The next section, ‘What to Do’, walks new families on a whiteboard sketch tour of a fictional family, the ‘Joneses’ who are also a first year family and demonstrates them doing all the right things to effectively be ready for the school year. The Joneses also get onboard with the many ways to connect with other families at the school, such as PTL, athletics booster clubs and our new Fine Arts Coalition.

What to Read

WCA 101 wraps up with ‘What to Read’, which gives details on the many ways in which new families and current WCA families get information from the school, including the website, the Eaglegram, and class newsletters, set in a mock newspaper background.

We highly encourage all new families to go through the WCA 101 web series. Families already at WCA will probably also benefit from proceeding through the fun and interactive program. The pages cover many of the newer minor changes to WCA’s dress code, drop off and pickup rules, and bell schedule with the new late Wednesday start this year. You may even pick up a thing or two on rules you were unaware of before!

We hope you enjoy this new program, to get started on WCA 101, click here. At this point in time, WCA 101 is only optimized for viewing on PC.
